Project Carpool – Project Carpool is an initiative to expand the carpooling program at Miramonte. Over the past school year, Patrick Ouziel and I directed promotional videos that demonstrated students’ success with carpooling to school. These videos were shown on our school website, and provided a link to a separate website where students could demonstrate their interest in carpooling to school and sign an electronic petition to expand the number of carpool spots. By the end of the school year, we presented our petition to the Miramonte administration and agreed that the entire senior lot next year will be exclusively carpool.
Further expansion of the carpool program will be taking place next year, with the help of Miramonte’s Environmental Club. We hope to increase the use of PooltoSchool, a southwest Contra Costa County site that matches potential carpoolers with other students looking to carpool. Our hope is that through promoting carpool, we can increase awareness of environmentally friendly transportation among high school students.
